Scottish historian John Hill Burton (1809-1881) writes a series of essays; “A Vision of Mighty Book Hunters”, “The Prowler and the Auction-Haunter” and others on book-buying and ‘book hunters’. The book is divided into four main parts related to the Book-Hunter: I: His Nature; II: His Functions; III: His Club; and IV: Book-Club Literature.
