Pictorial end leaves, coloured frontispiece, 100 black-and-white plates from photographs, sketch maps in the text. Frederick A. Stokes is on the title page with Cassell on the spine. Cassell printed both the American and British editions, which were released at the same time. Mild intermittent foxing on preliminaries and on page edges, otherwise a very bright and clean copy with tight hinges, no prior ownership markings. A clean and complete copy. The story of the “Quest”, by Commander Frank Wild, C.B.E. This very readable narrative was written by Frank Wild who assumed command of the expedition after the death of Sir Ernest Shackleton. The narrative was informed by first-hand experience and by the official journal and private diary kept by Dr. A. H. Macklin. An excellent copy of a well-written narrative with one highlight being a sensitively written chapter detailing the death of Sir Ernest Shackleton.
