A very informative biographical sketch of a true unsung hero during the heroic age of Antarctic exploration. The focus is on Crean’s exploits on both the Discovery Expedition and the Terra Nova Expedition under Robert Falcon Scott. During the latter expedition. Crean’s amazing 35 statute miles (56 km) solo walk across the Ross Ice Shelf to save the life of Edward Evans led to him receiving the Albert Medal.
